Pakistan Wins First Oscar Award For Saving Face a Lustrous Victory
The Pakistani documentary ‘Saving Face’ created by Sharmeen Obaid won Oscar for feature documentary at the 84th Academy Awards on Sunday the 26th Feb 2012. In the history of Oscars, it was the 1st time ever that a Pakistani documentary was proposed and won award in 84 years.
Directed by Daniel Junge and produced by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the film accompanies British plastic surgeon Dr. Mohammad Jawad, who comes back to his country of origin to assist dupes of acid burns. The film follows one woman as she battles to attend that the culprits of the crime are captive for life.
Pakistan Won 2 Gold Awards at APICTA 2011 a Lustrous Victory
Pakistan has pulled ahead 2 gold and five silver awards at 11th annual Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) 2011 in Pattaya, Thailand.
Different ICT firms from Pakistan bolted 2 Gold awards in the e-Health and e-Logistics & SCM categories and 5 silvers in the Communication, Financial, Security, E-Inclusion & E-Community and E-Government classes.
Pakistan’s team consisted of 18 wareses which were contending with 162 different products from the Asia Pacific domain.
The Center for Advanced Research in Engineering (CARE) once more brushed the awards with the gold in e-Health and the silver in Communication, Security and E-Government classes.
Lumensoft Technologies held gold in the e-Logistics class with Infotech Group acquiring the silver in the Financial Apps category and Engro-Orix carrying the silver in the E-Inclusion & E-Community category.
